Nissan ABS Recall: Your Next Steps

Nissan North America Inc. is recalling select 2015-2017 Nissan Murano, 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2017-2018 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2017 INFINITI QX60 vehicles due to an anti-lock brake system (ABS) defect.

Nissan North America Inc. is recalling select 2015-2017 Nissan Murano, 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2017-2018 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2017 INFINITI QX60 vehicles due to an anti-lock brake system (ABS) defect that could potentially lead to a fire, increasing the risk of injury to drivers. Nissan North America Inc. is recalling approximately 215,124 vehicles in the United States and 19,761 in Canada.

According to the recall report , the ABS pump in affected vehicles may leak fluid onto the circuit board which could create an electric short. Owners of affected vehicles may see an ABS warning signal illuminating on the instrument panel. Ignoring this warning and continuing to operate the vehicle could lead to safety risks on the road. Nissan North America Inc. and Nissan Canada is advising drivers who see this warning to park their vehicles outside and away from other entities.

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be notified from the auto maker on October 15, 2018. Nissan dealerships have already been notified. Dealers will replace the ABS system with a new part for free to owners of affected vehicles.
