“In hiring these highly-skilled skilled foreign workers, we can eliminate bottlenecks to grow our company and that will ultimately enable us to hire ten times as many Canadian employees,” said Cody Green, founder and co-CEO of Canada Drives. “Our focus on innovation requires us to scale up, and the Global Talent Stream helps where there is a gap in the Canadian labour force.”
While Vancouver has a rich tech sector, recruiting high-level professionals has been very competitive, making it challenging to grow the business. Canada Drives, an online finance company, employs nearly 400 staff. The business has nearly doubled in size since 2016, when it was named the fastest growing company in Canada.
Several specialised engineering positions at Canada Drives were filled through the Global Talent Stream program, after the company demonstrated a need for specialised workers unavailable domestically.
The new hires have advanced knowledge of their industry, an advanced degree in their area of specialisation, and a minimum of five years of specialised experience. Being able to fill these positions allowed Canada Drives to continue their growth which would have otherwise been slowed had these gone unfilled.
Canada Drives helps consumers facing all types of credit situations gain access to various products including automotive financing, personal loans, and credit building solutions through a convenient online application.
